The most important element of consultancy work in our view is communication, being able to listen and hear what clients are telling us. It is easy to helicopter in a service and provide a ‘quick fix’ however, there may be no ‘ownership’ of the action or activities taking place.
When undertaking work, we use an active listening approach to ensure we understand the brief correctly. We provide the client with an agreed workplan before embarking on work and keeping the client updated. The client knows that we respect their business and will represent on their behalf professionally and responsibly.
We are pleased that Three Rivers District Council have asked us back again to review and re-write their current play strategy from 2013-2016. It is great to see that some Local Authorities still believe in the value of play. We had the opportunity to review their play services a year ago, resulting in core funding to guarantee their play rangers service and increase the budget on capital spend in the development of new play sites. We have also been asked back to deliver some more training to their playworkers. Thank you Three Rivers for your custom!
We are delighted to undertake a consultancy project for Mencap, looking at their Children’s Services and are also currently working with Yarlswood Detention Centre helping them to audit disability access in their buildings.
Consultation services include:
- Reviewing and evaluating services
- Supporting the creation of new services
- Consulting with service users including children and young people
- Mentoring and Group Training
- Facilitating Away Days
- Speeches and Presentations

Examples of work:
Watford Borough Council Review of Staffed Play Provision:
Thank you for your presentation to Leadership Team, your report and presentation has been very well received and it is appreciated how much work and in depth analysis went into it and yet you succeeded in meeting all the project deadlines and delivered the final document 3 days earlier than the final deadline. I think that is the first time I have experienced that with a consultant!!!
